The base for determining fees depends on the type of excision and the histopathological diagnosis. The charges include an initial treatment room fee and the procedure fee will generally follow when the pathology results arrive. Procedure fees are may vary from Doctor to Doctor as the billing is at their discretion.
Surgical skin cancer treatment is non bulk-billed and will always result in an out of pocket expense decided the by the treating doctor based on the site of the lesion, complexity of the procedure and finally the histopathological diagnosis.
Thus, the same procedure may be billed as a process of these factors and on the level of training, qualifications in skin cancer treatment and experience of the treating doctor.
